The following arrests were recorded at the Connecticut State Police Troop E in Montville. An arrest does not constitute a conviction and all are innocent until proven guilty.

Vehicles driven by James Edwards, 75, of 166 Ledgewood Road, Groton, and Lisa J. Stapleton, 33, of 10 Ramblewood Drive, Gales Ferry, collided. Do we REALLY need to keep up with news like this? The Day is really good at digging up trash and I thought the Ledyard Patch would be above digging for bad news to report. Do we REALLY need to know about every automobile accident in town? Some thiefts and sexual assualts in town should be made public so people are aware there is a problem but posting police logs as news isn't what I would like to see from the Patch. We REALLY don't need to read all the preverted stuff that is in the police log too!

Hi Terry,
Thanks for your feedback. Patch is committed to providing all the news that happens in town, and sometimes that news is unpleasant. Often a resident will hear a siren, see a police car or fire truck go racing by and wonder what is going on. Part of our job is to publish the information that the emergency response officials provide us so that folks have an answer to that question, "I wonder what just happened."

Let's not forget that it's a) public record and b) may compel a victim or someone who has more information to come forward.

I like having this part posted to Ledyard Patch. Though I must say, I didn't need the exact particulars of the sexual assault, TMI!!!! But I agree with Andrea that it having the police and fire reports on Patch has its benfits, so keep up the good work!!!

Part of small town papers is keeping informed on what is going on. I, myself, would want to know the good, bad, and the ugly as it is the only way we know whats going on where we live.
