Political Parties Uninvited To Farmers' Market [POLL]

Tea Party Patriots were banned first but other parties aren't allowed either. What do you think?

The SECT Tea Party Patriots had a booth at the Ledyard Farmers' Market Wednesday but were banned after Market Master Bob Burns got word that they were representing a political party, according to The Bulletin.

Burns told The Bulletin that all political groups will now be banned from the Market, which is on town-owned property.

Burns, who was not at the market Wednesday, told the Bulletin that the political group did not identify themselves as belonging to the Tea Party while requesting permission to have a booth at the market. That assertion was refuted by group member and applicant Edee Smith.

However, any group assembling on the fairgrounds, regardless of their purpose has to present insurance, which the group did not do, according to the Bulletin's report. Smith said she was not made aware of that requirement.

Patch interviewed a member of the SECT Tea Party Patriots while they were at the market Wednesday and asked which election they are most focused on, who they're supporting in this election and what's their sound byte for Primary Tuesday.
