The Ledyard High School Football team came out of the gate swinging against Bacon Academy Friday night at home. The Colonels scored right away and had a 40-0 lead by half time. Joe Carter scored three times, with runs of 2,4, and 68 years. Darnay Gray also rushed for a TD. John Rainey threw touch down passes to Kyle Perry (39yards) and Jordan Kowalski (25yards).
Ledyard rested most of their starters in the second half, and scored another touchdown with their reserves, after Phillip Thomas scooped up a fumble and ran 62 yards for a TD. With six seconds left in the game, Bacon scored their only touchdown of the game, giving a final score of 47-7.
If Waterford wins over Windham Monday night, the Colonels would win the ECC Medium Division title for the second year in a row. A Windham victory would create a three-way tie with Montville. The team which has the most playoff points at the end of the year would end being the champion.
The Colonel's next game is at home Saturday morning against New London.
