Ledyard upsets Fitch in Final Minutes

The Ledyard Football team traveled to Groton on Thanksgiving as an underdog to face an 8-1 play-off bound Fitch team. Ledyard managed 14 points with Freshman Quarterback Ty Ebdon at the helm, by half time.  Fitch had 20 points at the half, with a strong running game from Saffwan Davis, and big catch's from Robert Johnston.

With less than seven minutes left in the game, Ledyard was down 13 points. With time running out, Quarterback John Rainey took over and took his team down field to a touchdown, making the score 27 to 21.  A subsequent Fitch turnover on the Ledyard 34, resulted in a Ledyard rushing touchdown by Darnay Gray, giving them a 28 to 27 lead.

Fitch Quarterback Devante Anderson frantically tried to advance his team down field with pass's, but was unable to connect with any receivers. Ledyard held on to win, after which the entire team ran onto the field to celebrate the win, and the end of a 7 and 3 season, with 19 graduating Seniors. Ledyard retained the Colonel Ledyard Sword for the 5th straight year of Thanksgiving games vs Fitch.
