Celebrating The Strawberry

Ledyard Congregational Church's Strawberry Supper was SRO Tuesday night. Did you go?

Tuesday's crazy weather of rain, sun, downpour, thunder then sun did not stop scores of folks from attending the Ledyard Congregational Church's annual supper.

The first seating was at 5 and it was full at 5:02. Coordinator Laurie Hedman was dishing Anna Geer's famous baked beans as fast as she could and was not at all phased by the line snaking through the church hallways waiting for seats to open.

It was great to see everyone for the annual fundraiser, she said.

In addition to Anna's beans there was ham and homemade potato salad and cole slaw, rolls, and of course, the shortcake. The ladies did a great job of keeping up with demand.

Jim McIntyre (that's him in the video) declared the shortcake "delicious as usual" and then admitted it was his first time at the supper. But, the Ledyard resident promised, "we'll be back."
