This past weekend was forecast to have a chance of rain and thunderstorms, or if not, it was supposed to be just cloudy. Well it did rain but that's not all it did. Ledyard Patch users reported far more interesting weather phenomena than clouds and rain.
A funnel cloud, or something that looks a lot like it, was spotted at Leaning Birch Equestrian Center on Pumpkin Hill Road. And hail the size of peas, grapes, dimes and quarters were reported around town although Gallup Hill Road seemed to be hail-free.
A thread on Facebook began by noting the pea-sized hail balls falling and others chimed in to share what they were seeing:
Laurie Murphy Roediger wrote on Facebook, "We had dime to quarter size hail on Lambtown and rivers of water running all over my barn yard."
And, Lilain Marian Rolfe wrote, "Nothing here at Gallup Hill and Pumpkin Hill!"
Pamela Ensley wrote, "Grape size! Not fun to drive in"
