Armed Forces Sunday at the United Methodist Church of Gales Ferry

Armed Forces Sunday, May 20th, will be celebrated at the United Methodist Church of Gales Ferry with a tribute to active duty service members and veterans. The
Sunday Services at 8:15 and 10:30 AM, will continue the activities of Armed Forces Week, which starts on the second Saturday in May with the National Armed
Forces Day celebration.  All area military families, whether a member of the church family or not, and guests are welcome and encouraged to attend this special tribute.
The 10:30 AM service will be followed by a reception and coffee hour in the JoAnn Koe Fellowship Hall.

The United Methodist Church of Gales Ferry has extensive ties to the local military community and is fortunate and blessed to have many service men and women, both
active and veterans, among the extended church family.  The church provides support to military families who have a member on deployment and is active in outreach to the
military. The Narthex of the church has a permanent display of photos and information on the assignments of those that are serving on active duty or in the reserves.  A highlight of the service will include the reading the “Honor Roll” of those currently serving and those who are retired
military and those with prior service and having them stand and be recognized.  Those on active duty or
reserve status are encouraged to wear their uniforms.  A pamphlet, containing a brief military bio of the congregation’s current and past military members, will be distributed at the service.

Military members and families who would like transportation to this service may contact the church office at (860) 464-7407 or umchurch01@snet.net to make
arrangements. Child care for young children is provided during the service. The United Methodist Church is located at 10 Chapman Lane in the historic village of Gales Ferry, just North of the US Navy Submarine Base.  It is easily accessed via Connecticut Route 12, which runs from Groton to the South to Norwich to the North.
