Lights Are Back On in Spicer Hill Area

Problem Resolved and Power Restored On Thursday Night

Power was restored to the Spicer Hill area Thursday night after a 36-hour outage that began Wednesday morning. The blackout, which affected 86 homes, followed by a few days an almost week-long outage in the wake of tropical storm Irene.

“They discovered the weakness in the underground cables and were able to repair it,” said Mitch Gross, a spokesman for Connecticut Light & Power.

“My husband said that it was almost 36 hours to the minute since the power went off, so it must have been around 7:30 that the power came on,” said Marie Engelman of St. Peter’s Court.

“We’re terribly relieved. We can almost get our lives back to some sort of normality,” she said. “We saw the power company people as they left and we waved them on.”
