is bringing the spice to the Taste of Mystic this year. After taking a bit of a break from the three-day food event the restaurant is returning to the Taste of Mystic with street tacos, a fajita bowl and a plan to reassure people that even if you don’t like the spice and heat there is a Mexican dish for you.
The Taste of Mystic featuring food samples and entertainment from around the region kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sep. 7, and continues to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9. Patrick Dowling of Margaritas Management Group shared with Patch some of the food visitors to the Taste can expect to find.
Q: Why did Margaritas decide to participate in the Taste of Mystic this year?
A: Margaritas has enjoyed a long tradition of participating in community-based events such as the Taste of Mystic. After taking a few years off from this event, we are excited to step back in and provide the community a “taste” of what Margaritas has to offer. We think we have created a distinctive menu that represents well what our restaurant has to offer.
Q: What is Margaritas looking forward to about the Taste?
A: We love to interact with the local folks as well as meet the visitors to the area who are coming to the area for the historic charm and welcoming sense the community has to offer. We love to be a part of the exciting downtown activities and we love to participate with local businesses to create a sense that Mystic is the place to be. There are always a few folks who have a pre-conceived notion of what a Mexican Restaurant has to offer, and we like to reassure them that it’s not all spice and heat. There are many delicious, subtle flavors on our menu and we enjoy the opportunity to treat people to them at events like this.
Q: What is Margaritas's can’t miss dish people should try at the Taste?
A: We will be offering our delicious, tangy Quesocita; our warm, gooey melted cheese dip, served with our own tortilla chips. We will also be offering Street Tacos, a bite-size taco made perfect for munching and strolling, and a sample size fan-favorite, a Fajita Bowl, made with our Spanish rice, grilled onions and peppers and a choice of grilled steak or chicken on a soft corn tortilla. All delicious choices!
Q: What’s Margaritas' favorite restaurant besides your own participating at the Taste?
A: While we love all of our downtown (and further flung) fellow businesses, we are most excited to participate in the Taste with our good, old amigos at , located right in front of us on Water Street.
