Where's The Best Place To Trick Or Treat?

Check out the answers that were posted on Facebook

This question ws posed on the Ledyard Gales Ferry Community Forum Facebook page: "Does anyone know a good area to take a 2-year-old out trick or treating? My neighborhood of 5 houses doesn't really do the whole candy thing because no one ever comes down our road."

There were lots of great answers, both for places to safely trick or treat in town, and out of town.

By far, the out of town favorite is Olde Mistick Village, where merchants hand out candy to costumed children from 4-6 p.m., on Oct. 31.

"We had gone to trick or treating at Mystic village last year, the kids got TONS of candy, BUT personally I felt it was really crowded. yes, there were lines for each store, but I don't know if we'll do that again this year," posted one person.

For in town, there were recommendations for both the Birdland and Highlands neghborhoods.

"The Highlands is usually a safe bet... I live off the bottom end of meeting house- we never get a lot of kids at our end so we give extra candy to those who do make it. I think all my neighbors give extra too," wrote one.

"It depends where you live, but in Gales Ferry you have Birdland (Bobwhite, Pheasant Run, etc), Sherwood Forest and a few other developments. In Ledyard, there's the Highlands (houses close together) or the neighborhood around Seabury," wrote another.

Still others wondered why the town doesn't stage an event at a school: "don't understand why the school or firehouse or community center doesn't have an EARLY evening Halloween party for the kids, didn't they use to with games and prizes for costumes?"

Where do you think the best places to trick or treat are in town?
