Bus Company to Provide Service to Foxwoods

A private bus company will begin making runs from Norwich to Foxwoods next month.

A private transportation company will begin making runs from the Norwich Transportation Center and Foxwoods at the end of August, according to a report in the Norwich Bulletin.

New York-based Da Shing Travel Inc will provide bus service geared toward Foxwoods employees 24-hours a day beginning Aug. 25 for $5.

The service was established by Montville resident John Wong, who said the bus service has been necessary since Foxwoods ended its shuttle program last February.

The only other transportation service for Foxwoods employees is Southeast Area Transit Route 108, which begins in New London and travels through Groton and North Stonington on Route 2 to Foxwoods with a stop at the Olde Mystick Village. The fare is $1.50 to $2.50 depending on where you catch the bus. Foxwoods employees used to ride for free but since the casino stopped funding the route, employees pay full price.
