Habitat for Humanity Re-Store Coming to Waterford

The store will be located at 82 Boston Post Road and will sell "gently used" construction materials, appliances, home accessories and furniture.

Waterford's town planner confirmed this week that Habitat for Humanity is planning on opening a Re-store outlet at 82 Boston Post Road, in the spot previously occupied by Fastenal.

A Re-store accepts donated “gently-used” construction materials, home accessories, appliances, furniture and other home improvement supplies and then sells them at a discounted cost. All the proceeds from the store go to Habitat for Humanity, an international Christian nonprofit organization “founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live,” according to the organization’s website.

The Re-store has already gained a zoning compliance permit and is in the process of attaining a building permit, Wujtewicz said. He said the store does not need to go through any of the town’s planning or zoning boards because it is a retail outlet moving into a spot previously occupied by a retail outlet.

A spokeswoman for the Habitat for Humanity of Southeastern Connecticut said the group was not ready to announce anything as of now as no lease has been signed yet. But they said they should have an announcement soon and would contact Patch.
