Mall Holds Ceremony Highlighting Its $10 Million Renovation

 

Dignitaries from the Crystal Mall and its owner, Simon Properties, along with several local leaders in business and government celebrated the mall's grand reopening Friday.

Simon poured $10 million into redoing the mall, as it revamped all the flooring, repainted and changed the mall’s logo. Friday, it held a press event complete with speeches from Crystal Mall General Manager Karen Tarantino, Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut Vice President Sheri Cote and Waterford First Selectman Dan Steward, among others.

What The Renovation Inlcuded:

-The food court received an “extensive facelift,” including a retiled floor, new lighting, new furniture, a renovated bathroom and a new color scheme.

-All new signs and landscaping at the vehicular entranceways.

-Redesign of the mall entrances, including new glass vestibules, lighting and landscaping.

-Carpeted soft seating areas throughout the mall.

-New flooring throughout the mall, with all tile on the first floor, and mostly carpet except tile on the entranceways on the second floor.

-The children’s play area was moved to The Christmas Tree Shop's court and two new family restrooms were added, along with a mother’s nursing room.

-Two new escalators and a new center staircase.

-A new Simon Guest Services booth located near the food court.
