Road Work to Impact Entire Length of I-395

The Department of Transportation is planning to change all the exit numbers on I-395 beginning next spring.

If you use I-395 for travel, be sure you know precisely where you're heading because the signs that have been guiding you to your destination are about to change completely. The exit numbers on I-395 from its beginning in Waterford all the way to Massachusetts will change beginning next spring according to a report in the Norwich Bulletin.

The article says that the Department of Transportation will spend about $9M for the project and the changes are required to go along with a federal mandate that exit numbers match mile markers. Construction will begin next April and end in October of 2015.

Montville’s Mayor Ron McDaniel told reporters that the changes may come at a cost to local businesses who will have to change their advertising and promotional materials. However, the former exit numbers will stay in place, alongside the new exit signs, for two years while people make adjustments.
