Daily Five: Donate Dog Food, Preston Selectman Seeking Reynolds' Seat

Five things to know on Monday, May 14.

 

1. Today there may be scattered showers and cloudy, with a high near 69, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will have scattered showers, mainly after 10 p.m. with patchy fog after 11 p.m., but therwise, cloudy, with a low around 56.

2. Due to the recent pet food recall, the had to throw away a lot of food. They are in need of dry dog food, canned dog food, and dog treats (Beggin Strips and other treats that are chewy). If anyone is able to help donate these items, it would be greatly appreciated. We also accept gift cards to Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, and Walmart.

3. There’s only one week until the annual town meeting on the 2012-2013 budget. It will be held on Monday, May 21 at 7 p.m. in the Ledyard High School Auditorium. The town-wide referendum on the 2012-2013 budget will be held next Tuesday, May 22.

4. Democrat Timothy Bowles, a selectman in Preston, said he’s seeking the party’s nomination to represent the 42nd district at the May 22 convention. The convention will be held at the Bill Library at 5:45 p.m. The Republican nominating committee is having it’s convention on Wednesday, May 16 at 7 p.m. in the Preston Town Hall on Route 2.

5. The class on today at 5:30 to 6:30.  People 14-years-old and older are welcome to attend.
