Daily Five: New School Calendar, CMTs

Five things to know for Monday March 5, 2012

1. Our friends at noaa.gov tell us this about today: "Mostly sunny, with a high near 39."

2. The Ledyard Board of Education has a draft calendar available for viewing on the schools' website (or you can see it attached to this article). The first day of school is set for Aug. 29 (teachers report Aug. 27). Christmas break is Dec. 24-Jan. 1. April vacation is April 15-19 and the last day of school (fingers crossed) is set for June 13, with graduation on June 20. Sorry that it is sideways - that's how the school department scanned it in.

3. is scheduled from today through Friday, March 23rd. The only test scheduled by the Connecticut Department of Education is the Direct Assessment of Writing which will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Questions about the CMTs? Check out this site.

4. If you've noticed new voices on your FM dial since last Monday, then you know that morning radio talk personality Lee Elci has relocated from WXLM 980 AM to 94.9 FM,. Check out the station's Facebook page. Elci brings his personal brand of local talk radio every weekday morning from 6-9 a.m. (including Patch Regional Editor Elissa Bass every Tuesday at 8 a.m.) with guests from all realms of life - politics, entertainment, business and media.

5. There is so much information in Mayor John Rodolico's blog post Friday about economic development in town, we had to read it twice! Great to know that CVS is on target for a spring groundbreaking. And Linda Davis' blog Friday got out the word about the town's new recycling bins. Do you want to blog on Patch? Let us know!
