Daily Five: Party Patrols Saturday And LEAF Is On Facebook

Five things to know on Friday, May 25.

 

1. Today’s high is supposed to be around 67 and it might rain, according to the National Weather Service. It may also rain tonight and the low temperature will be around 60.

2. The Ledyard Safe Teens Coalition, in collaboration with the Ledyard Police Department, will be conducting party patrols during prom weekends. Police will be looking for house parties where underage drinking is taking place. If you know of a party where you suspect underage drinking is taking place, call the anonymous party patrol hotline, 464-SAFE (7233), to report it.

3. Eric Treaster told the Town Council that the lawyer’s bills to defend its decision against a Gales Ferry developer who wanted to build an apartment building with an affordable housing unit at 83 Inchcliffe Drive cost just a bit more than $15,000. Treaster said that was good news because the bills were expected to be quite higher.

4. The new WPCA is getting organized, according to Town Councilor Bill Saums. He said they have formed committees and are taking a look at best practices by established water authorities, like Groton Utilities, to write its policies.
