Daily Five: Want To Run A Farm Stand This Summer?

Five things to know on Tuesday, May 1.

 

1. It sounds like May is off to a soggy start. Today there may be showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon and a chance showers afterward, according to the National Weather Service. There could be heavy rainfall and the high will be near 54. Tonight there’s a slight chance of light rain, and patchy fog before 8 p.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 44.

2. Bob Burns is seeking vendors and farmers for the Ledyard Farmers’ Market. Applications are available, call 860-536-6407 or email burns@aikifarms.com.

3. The Parks and Recreation Department still has space for people who want to go to New York City this Saturday. Someone will drive you to and around the city for $46. The bus leaves at 7:30 a.m. call 860-464-9112 to hop on.

4. The senior class will be selling graduation announcements during lunch beginning tomorrow. The announcements are $1.75 each and take the place of an invitation.

5. Mr. Wesley Johnson, Sr. had a portion of Route 214 named after him this weekend. Johnson was Mayor of Ledyard, Ledyard Town Council Chairman, President of Ledyard Rotary Club, President of Ledyard Fair, President of Ledyard Lions Club, Chairman of the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments, President of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, and a volunteer with countless regional and state organizations.
