Five Things: A Day to Honor Veterans

East Lyme Game Tonight, Youth Football in Playoffs, Girl Scout Cookies

  1. Chilly today. Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 51F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph. Clear skies. Low 38F.
  2. Today is Veterans Day. Schools and town offices are closed. Today is a day to honor veterans, reflect on their sacrifices, and be grateful for their service.
  3. The Ledyard-East Lyme football game, originally scheduled for Friday night, was rescheduled to tonight at Mignault Field. So you can still go. The Colonels are one win away from a likely playoff bid.
  4. Are you craving Thin Mints? Desperately seeking Samoas? Jonesin’ for some Tagalongs? You can purchase your Girl Scout Cookies Saturday at Starr Wood Village Market in Ledyard Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Just $4 buys a box of happiness.
  5. The Ledyard Youth Football Seniors football squad are in the playoffs again this year, having finished the regular season 7-1 to earn a number 2 seed. They are at home this weekend against the Westerly Bulldogs (8-1) Sunday in a semi-final match. The winner will go to the Super Bowl next weekend. Game time is 2 p.m. Sunday at Judge Crandall Field in Gales Ferry.
