Five Things: Awesome Light Parade
Patch Athlete, Live Tree Farms, Perfect Football Weekend
- Cloudy skies early today, followed by partial clearing. High near 60F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Mainly cloudy tonight. Low 53F.
- The annual Ledyard Light Parade on Sunday was a spectacular event, said organizer Leslie Doe-Koehler. The parade included local businesses, lots of Girl Scouts, and every emergency services organization in town. The weather was unseasonably warm, the turnout was great and the singing was led by the Ledyard High School Key Club. There was cocoa, cookies and a bon fire. We can hardly wait until next year.
- Ledyard High School swimmer Jessica Hespeler is our Patch Athlete of the week. After taking a year off from scholastic competition, Jessica returned to the team this year and won the 200 and 500 freestyle races at the recent CIAC State Open.
- We tagged our Christmas tree on Sunday. If you didn’t get to it yet, here’s a map of live tree farms in eastern Connecticut.
- It was another perfect football weekend. Following Ledyard’s heart-stopping win over Fitch in the final seconds Thursday, the UConn Huskies made short work of Rutgers on Saturday, then the Patriots romped over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Three for three.
