Five Things: Red Sleigh Bazaar

Branford Game Vicrory, Great American Smoke-Out, Career Day

  1. Mostly sunny skies today. High 46F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph. Clear tonight. Low 36F.
  2. The 8-1 Colonels won a squeaker Thursday against Branford, 28-21. With the win Ledyard likely earned a trip to the playoffs. But it took inspired play by senior Slade Baxley and a desperate, last-minute scramble by John Rainy to secure the win.
  3. Ledyard Congregational Church will host its annual Red Sleigh Bazaar on Saturday Nov. 19, at the church on Route 117 in Ledyard Center. The bazaar will go from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include a luncheon; decorations; jewelry; baked goods; handcrafts; silent auction; basket raffle; Santas workshop and cookie buffet. (And don't forget, Spoon River Anthology has two performances, tonight and Saturday.)
  4. Yesterday was the Great American Smoke Out. If you didn’t quit yesterday, Gales Ferry resident Carrie Jacobson offers several great reasons to quit today.
  5. Some 50 local professionals participated in Career Day at Ledyard High School Thursday, offering students first-hand information and insight into a wide of range of careers. Watch for our report.
