Five Things to Know Today

Story Time, LHS Tolerance Survey, Film Festival, Happy 279th!

  1. Becoming mostly sunny, breezy, and cold today, with high temperatures 23-30F. No surprises like yesterday, knock on wood.
  2. Ledyard Children’s Librarian Nancy Brewer will lead Winter Story Time for 3-5-year-olds today, beginning at 10:15 a.m., at Gales Ferry Library. As promised, a photo gallery of her story time will run later today in Patch.
  3. Is Ledyard High School a tolerant place where students of all stripes are welcomed and accepted? According to a survey published in the current issue of The Colonel it is.
  4. “The Kids Are All Right,” starring Annette Bening and Julianne Moore, is tonight’s feature presentation at the Garde Arts Center Film Festival. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 or free with your festival pass.
  5. George Washington was born on this day in 1732. As far as we know he never slept in Ledyard, but he slept in several other Connecticut towns, including Norwich and New London.
