Reynolds Forum Tonight, Courtney in Gales Ferry, Huskies Update

  1. Rain likely today, high temperature around 51F. Winds SSE at 15 to 25 mph. Rainfall could amount to near a quarter of an inch. Tonight overcast, low 48F.
  2. State Rep. Tom Reynolds, D-42nd, will conduct a third public forum on the state budget and fiscal predicament at 7 p.m. tonight at Ledyard High School. 
  3. Congressman Joe Courtney will be at the Gales Ferry Firehouse at 10 a.m. today to announce legislation he is proposing to extend federal benefits to fire police.
  4. At Big Y this week you can buy Friendly’s ice cream for $1.98 a carton with a silver coin. (The ice cream doesn’t talk back.)
  5. The UConn men’s basketball team hung on Saturday to beat Kentucky by a point in the semifinal round of the NCAA tournament. The Huskies will face Butler for the championship tonight. The Notre Dame women's team tripped UConn Sunday for the right to meet Texas A&M in the final Tuesday. UConn finishes the year at 36-2.
