Five Things to Know Today

Food Handlers Training, Willy Wonka, Free Weekend at Aquarium

  1. Sunshine and some clouds today. High 54F. Winds E at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight partly cloudy, low 38F. 
  2. The Ledgelight Health District will be offering a  Saturday, April 9, from 1-4 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Gales Ferry. The course is food sanitation training for temporary events for food booth operators. This program is free and is being offered as a community service by the Ledyard Rotary and Lawrence & Memorial’s Community Partnerships.
  3. It’s  at the Gales Ferry Community Center on Saturday at 6.30 p.m.  The free event begins with an Easter egg hunt. Ledyard High School A Cabellas and Final Cut will make an appearance.
  4. Ledyard Middle School Drama will stage its own version of Roald Dahl's “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” at 7 p.m. tonight and Saturday. Tickets to Willy Wonka Junior are $7 for adults and $4 for students.
  5. I have Raffi’s “Baby Beluga” in my head.  It must be because Mystic Aquarium is free this weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) for locals (Mystic, Stonington, North Stonington, Ledyard, Preston and Groton residents).  You just have to show your driver’s license, and you’ll be singing too.
