Five Things to Know Today

D-Day, Upward Basketball Registration, Glee Live! and LMS Family Night

  1. Except for a few afternoon clouds, mostly sunny today, high around 75F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. A few showers in the evening, then clear overnight. low 58F.
  2. Today is the 67th anniversary of D-Day, on which Allied troops invaded the beaches of Normandy, France. The June 6, 1944, invasion is considered to have turned the tide of the war in Europe. Germany surrendered on May 8, 1945.
  3. Registration begins today at Gallup Hill Baptist Church for Upward Sports Basketball Camp, which runs August 1st-August 5th. Click here for more information.
  4. The cast of "Glee" performs tonight at Mohegan Sun. The show is sold out, but I just thought I’d mention it anyway.
  5. There will be a Family Night at Ledyard Middle School on Tuesday night, June 7, from 6-8 p.m. Free spaghetti dinner, courtesy of Valentino’s restaurant, plus presentations, door prizes and raffles.
