Five Things to Know Today

Graduations, Beard-A-Thon, Reports of Candidacy Exaggerated

  1. Generally sunny today despite a few afternoon clouds. High near 75F. Winds NNE at 5 to 10 mph. Clear skies tonight, low 56F.
  2. Ledyard Board of Education member Michelle Hinton will not be the Democratic candidate for mayor. Hinton said she gave it a lot of thought, but decided the timing was not right. She informed her fellow Democrats on Monday. “Maybe in four years,” she said.
  3. Columnist Michelle Tracy will celebrate her twin daughters’ graduation from middle school this week, and is wondering where the time goes. I know the feeling… last night I watched my 4-year-old graduate from his pre-K program. Ready or not, world, here they come!
  4. Speaking of graduations, Ledyard Center School Principal Mary Fort Boyle is graduating to the next phase of her life after 19 years at LCS. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
  5. Today is the last day to make a donation toward Edward Foster’s Boston Bruins Beard-A-Thon challenge. Go B’s!
