Mill Rate Set, Bond Issues Meeting, Sacred Music, Judge of Probate

  2. The Town Council on Thursday approved a new mill rate for 2011-12 of 27.93, an increase of 0.37 mills, or about 1.32 percent. Watch for our report.
  3. The council also set a town meeting for 6:30 p.m. on June 28 in the Town Hall Annex to consider three bond issues, including $325,000 for new bleachers at the high school, $345,000 for new financial software to be shared by the town and Board of Education, and $200,000 to convert the schools in Gales Ferry from oil heat to natural gas.
  4. There will be a Ledyard High School Chamber Choir concert at 7:30 tonight and Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Gales Ferry. There also will be a Hallelujah for Handbells at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry.
  5. The primary for Southestern Connecticut Regional District Judge of Probate is Tuesday, June 21. We will present Q&A profiles of each of the candidate leading up to the primary. We began yesterday with Pawcatuck Republican Eric Janney, and today Ledyard Democrat Ellin Grenger is featured.
