Five Things to Know Today

Power Outage in Gales Ferry, GOP Caucus, Farm Bureau Visit

  1. Hot and muggy today. Some clouds this morning will give way to mostly sunny skies for the afternoon. High 87F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight a few passing clouds, otherwise clear. Low 66F.
  2. Thousands of Gales Ferry residents lost power again last night. Residents also lost power on Sunday in what has been a series of outages this summer. Watch for our report.
  3. Town Republicans will hold a caucus tonight at which party members will endorse a candidate for mayor, among other offices. John Rodolico and Mayor Allyn both are in the running. The caucus starts at 7 p.m. at the Ledyard Middle School.
  4. American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stahlman and other Farm Bureau leaders will visit Holmberg Orchards this afternoon. The group also will visit Maple Lane Farms in Preston and Noank Aquaculure Cooperative. “They just want to see what farms in Connecticut are doing,” said Rick Holmberg. Watch for our report.
