Five Things to Know Today

Medium Rules, Small Cities Grant, UConn Alumni, Campaign 2011

  1. Cloudy today. High 63F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph. Rain showers in the evening becoming more intermittent overnight. Low 47F.
  2. Ledyard High School's football team is 4-1 after a 38-7 win over Bacon Academy on Saturday. And football isn't the only Ledyard sports program that has excelled this fall since the school moved to the ECC's medium division.
  3. The town has been awarded a $300,000 Small Cities grant to set up a Residence Rehabilitation Loan Program that would provide loans to low-to-moderate income households for home repairs.
  4. Remember Dan Olovsky, the former Huskies quarterback who helped launch Division 1 football at UConn? He saw some playing time last night for the Colts, who were humiliated by the Saints on Sunday Night Football. But it was fun watching Dan the Man hand off a few times to former UConn great Donald Brown.
  5. Election day is about two weeks away. We  asked candidates for town council and board of education to complete a Q&A and they have obliged. We will run them this week and next.
