Five Things: Curves is Back!

On the Market, Basketball Rebounds, Happy New Year!

  1. Partly cloudy today, high 47F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Cloudy skies tonight with a few showers late. Low 41F.
  2. Great news for Curves in Gales Ferry. The “mostly women’s” gym was scheduled to close this week unless owners Kayt Lizzio and Cathy Mastroianni found a buyer. Well, two weeks ago they found a buyer – Karen Cummings of Oakdale. So for the New Year and beyond, it’s business as usual at Curves.
  3. This week we reported six property transactions in Ledyard. Four out of the six were sold by either banks, relocation companies or mortgage companies. This is not unusual, by the way, and speaks volumes about the current real estate market.
  4. It’s not too early in the season to point out that basketball at Ledyard High School has made an impressive rebound this year. After going 1-19 last year, the boys were 3-2 in their first five games, and the girls were 6-0 before dropping their first game the other night. Sounds like we will need to catch up with both teams in the new year.
  5. Ah yes, the New Year – where did this one go?  Watch this weekend for our Year in Review, a summary of the year’s top stories. And thanks for making Patch a part of your routine in 2011. We’ve had a great year together, and we're hoping for more of the same in 2012. Happy New Year Everyone!
