Football Fanatics Unite. Not just any given Sunday, but this Sunday, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m., Super Bowl 47 will kick off and it pits the Harbaugh Brothers against each other as Jim's San Francisco 49ers battle big brother John's Baltimore Ravens.
The local flavor of Ledyard, including Valentino's Restaurant, Fireside Brick Oven Creations, Subway and Mo's Burgers and Brew will all be offering specials throughout the day and during the game. Also for beer, chips and dips along with all your other SB47 needs, don’t forget to visit the Starwood Village Market, which is also preparing a smorgarsboard of prepared food, desserts and supplies for your Super Bowl Party.
Fireside Brick Oven Creations is offering some specials like, if you order three pizzas you’ll get an additional same-sized cheese pizza for free; an order of garlic bread, large cheese pizza and 2-liters of soda will be $17.99; also, an order of buffalo wings are $5.99.
And with Fireside, you won’t have to take a break from the festivities to get your order if you live within their delivery zone. Fireside began delivering last weekend, which went well, according to Nicholson and they’ll be delivering again on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Are you in their delivery zone? The restaurant’s Facebook page said “We will be delivering on Military Hwy to Long Cove, Christy Hill, Birdland, Sherwood Forest, Vinegar Hill, Whalehead to Vinegar Hill, Rte 12 to Whalehead, Rte 12 to Long Cove, and Pheasant Run Condos. We have a directory of streets to reference for these areas. Please call if you are not sure your street is included in these areas.”
Valentino’s Restaurant will also be delivering orders during the big game and they have a couple specials planned with more to come. As of this printing, they said they'll be offering two large cheese pizzas and an order of wings (10) for $29.99 and any order over $40 comes with a free 2-liter bottle of soda. And, as with any other day, if you order four pizzas they’ll add on a same-sized cheese pizza for free.

Starr Wood Village Market is accepting orders for a their prepared platters which they ask is done 24 hours in advance. In addition to the standard cheese and cracker platters, they now have a ciabatta bread platter with all varieties of cheese, deli meat and fillings. Carol, the deli manager said the ciabatta bread is awesome because it’s thick and never gets soggy.
Super bowl 47 specials and platters will be staged in the produce and deli area. She said they make lots of food in advance and “if you want something and don’t see it, just ask.”
They’ll have shrimp platters and specials from the meat department, lots of pasta salads, lasagna, meatballs, a 30-chicken-wings-for-$12.99-special (you tell ‘em what flavor) and chicken tenders. The food will be refrigerated but if you’d like the wings heated up before you pick up, just call Carol in advance at 860-464-9364.
And as always, Subway has those 3-foot and 6-foot sandwiches or platters available. They’ll need a 24-hour notice.
Mo’s Burgers and Brew’s Super Bowl specials are one-dollar domestic drafts, 50-cent wings before and during the game. There may be some other specials in store for patrons and you’ll have to stop in to find out.
