Ledyard to Host GMO Labeling Forum

The event is free and open to the public.

 

There will be a panel discussion on the labeling of genetically modified food Sunday at 11 a.m. after regular church services at the Ledyard Congregational Church.

The panel, will be chaired by Ledyard's Bob Burns, an organizer for the New London County chapter of a GMO free Connecticut and will consist of former Congressman Rob Simmons, State Rep. Timothy Bowles, New England Organic Farmers Organization chair Bill Deusing, and Ian Skoggard, member of the United Church of Christ Green team, according to a press release.

The event is part of a statewide effort by the United Church of Christ to educate people on the need to label GMO foods in our system. The diversification of the panel will provide many answers to the issue of labeling GMO produced foods.

The public is encouraged to attend, hot soup and coffee will be served for attendees. Literature on GMO foods will also be provided.
