Many Without Power in Ledyard

The winter storm has left just more than 2,400 people without power in Ledyard, much more around the state.

People seem to be heeding the advice of public safety officials and staying off the roads but still, there's few things we can do prevent the heavy snow from weighing down power lines and tree limbs until they snap.

As predicted, there are lots of trees and wires down around Ledyard. In fact, 2,404 of CL&P's customers in Ledyard, or 36 percent, are without power tonight. Residents are reminded to call CL&P at1-800-286-2000 if you experience a power outage.

Sean McGuckin, the director of Emergency Management, said that if Ledyard residents are in need of warm shelter, they are welcome at both fire houses. Early Friday, there were no plans to open a regional emergency center but that could change once the damage has been assessed Saturday.
