Scares and Halloween Fun at Wicked Good Time

Halloween Benefit for the Lauren Candler Memorial Scholarship

To raise money for the Lauren Candler Memorial Scholarship, volunteers arranged Halloween festivities for Friday, and Saturday.  On Friday night the Haunted Trail had more than 200 visitors.  On Saturday there was an afternoon of kid-friendly fun followed by another frightful night of the Haunted Trail.

The daytime activities included a bake sale, face painting, arts and crafts, balloon animals, and a moonwalk.  After dark, the focus was on the unique Haunted Trail that combined the scary with live singers. Members of the choruses from Ledyard schools sang festive songs.  Entrance to the Haunted Trail was $5 plus a canned food item that is donated to the United Way of Gales Ferry.

Lauren Candler was a student at Ledyard High School in the Vo-Ag program and in the music program.  She died in 2005 at the age of 15. Scholarship money is awarded to a Ledyard Senior that participates in one of these programs every year.
