Week In Review: Ledyard Idol, Donate Pet Supplies, New Farm In Town

The week's top stories in the Ledyard Patch.

 

Friday night was a big night in Ledyard. nine contestants sang their hearts out for the American Heart Association and KC Wilson was named Ledyard’s Idol this year. But, the competition was heavy. Patch blogger Haley Hinton promoted the event and arranged to run previews of most of the contestants prior to the event. The auditorium was enthusiastic and saw performances by , , , , , and .

Ledyard author . Walsh co-authored Follow the Dog Home with his sons and granddaughter who all brought a fresh perspective and new memories to the memoir, he said. He also read an excerpt from the book describing how it was for him getting his newest dog, Annie, a short while after his dog Daisy had died.

and Patch was able to sit down with Ledyard alum Allyson Angelini and find out what sets Full Heart Farm apart from other farms in town. Angelini, who, despite her youth, has lots of experience working farms and utilizing farm fresh ingredients for family meals said the farm will deliver more than ingredients but a bag full of ingredients that will bring a family together around a whole meal. She said for the enclosed produce and meat products.

caused some political shifts that will directly impact Ledyard and Gales Ferry residents. that will be vacated by Prague and then dropped out of the Congressional race against U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District to run for Prague’s seat too. Gales Ferry Republican and Preston Democrat are interested in Reynolds’ seat in the House of Representatives; Lowell has received his party’s endorsement, Bowle’s may or may not at their convention on Tuesday.

Today’s the first time Connecticut liquor stores can be open on a Sunday. There are four package stores in Ledyard and Gales Ferry and all of them plan to be open for some part of the day.

Residents of Ledyard will receive calls from a company representing the Ledyard Police Union. that contributes money back into the community through youth league sports and scholarships. If you have any questions call Officer Daniel Gagnon at 860-464-6400.

The needs dog food, treats and kitty litter. Donations and gift cards are accepted at their office, which is next to the transfer station.
