Week In Review: New School Principal and Student Writers To Be Published

The high school’s musical opened this week. . In an interesting real-life coincidence that happens in the play, the mayor is played by retiring principal Louis Gibordi and Amanda Fagan, , plays his wife.

The Ledyard Middle School Students of the Month and Spotlight Students were honored this week. This week there was more than the usual amount of spotlight students because nine cousins who are members of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe were selected.

Speaking of student accomplishments, three Ledyard Center School students were recognized for excellence in writing. Ian Kamperschroer, a fifth grader, Anna Graul, a second grader, and Chloe DeMaio, a fifth grader, all submitted writing samples to the Connecticut Writing Project. Kamperschroer and Graul will be published in the magazine and DeMaio received an honorable mention.

This is a second time for Kamperschroer, who said he really enjoys writing and finds that it gets easier the more he does it. He wrote a short piece about visiting his grandfather's farm for the last time and
