Week In Review: News From Schools, Memorial Day And Police Day

The week's top stories on the Ledyard Patch.

 

This week was filled with lots of events.  The Ledyard Lions had great weather last Sunday and put together a parade for Memorial Day. Floats and groups of people were tossing out candy. .

The Ledyard Police Department sponsored a where they gave away 238 tickets for free ice cream cones and let kids climb around in police cruisers. K9 officers Ringo and Lambeau demonstrated their keen sniffing ability and crime-stopping techniques.

Police also provided , which may have paid off. Ledyard Police Lt. Michael Finkelstein said there were only two drinking and driving related arrests and one accident this weekend.

Boy scouts in and one lucky cub scout gained a patch. Terry Jean has to memorize the boy scout law and do a good deed to have it sewn on.

A couple by the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s annual education breakfast.

Patch sat down with and asked him about his years in Ledyard and what he plans to do while in retirement. Gabordi said now that the business of educating Ledyard students is coming to a close, he’s looking forward spending time with family, being active and catching up on a few books. James Joyce’s Dubliners and Ulysses are first on the list but are quickly followed by contemporary works like the poetry of Coleman Barks.

And Patch launched a photo contest seeking . People need to uploade photos of their dogs and have all their friends vote. The winning dog gets  the #1 dog tag, the glory and advances to the second round for more prizes.
