Have you ever wondered about the early inhabitants of Ledyard and Gales Ferry? Did you know Gales Ferry Cemetery is on the National Registry of Historic Places? Another reason for you to come and take a walk through the cemetery. The Gales Ferry Cemetery Associations will present a guided tour on Saturday, November 3rd at 1pm in the cemetery, located between Winthrop and Hurlbutt Roads
The tour will begin at the Gales Ferry Community Center located on Hurlbutt Road with apple cider and cookies. We will walk over to the cemetery and learn fascinating facts about the history of the people buried in this cemetery by our guide, Kit Foster, a local historian.
A donation of $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children under 12 is requested. This is a fund raising event to help insure this active yet historic non-profit cemetery continues to receive the necessary care it requires. All donations are tax deductible.
