Mashantucket, CT – (December 15, 2012) On Saturday, December 15, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation hosted its 12th Annual Children’s Holiday Party at the New London Senior Center in connection with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut partner agencies. This yearly event offers children an opportunity to participate in crafts, enjoy refreshments, visit with Santa Claus and receive a holiday gift.
To date, over 1,500 children have benefited from this worthwhile event with lasting impressions. “This year I wanted to help out with the holiday party because my children enjoyed it so much last year.” said Carmen, a mother of three and recipient of agency services. “I wanted to give something back and teach my children that Christmas is more than getting; it is also about giving back and spreading joy to others just as this program has done for us.”
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is honored to be able to support such an event. “This is a special time of year and we know that there are many people facing hardships,” said Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Chairman Rodney Butler. “We feel fortunate to be able to bring a little joy into the lives of children during the holiday season.”
