The Wardens, Vestry, and Parishioners of Saint David's Episcopal Church joyfully invite you to the CELEBRATION OF NEW MINISTRY of their 5th Rector, The Rev. Mary A. Canavan.
On Saturday, January 12, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Laura J Ahrens, Bishop Suffrogan of Connecticut, will invest the new Rector of Saint David’s Episcopal Church in Gales Ferry. Following more than two years of a search process by the parish, The Rev. Mary A. Canavan was called to be Saint David’s 5th Rector. Pastor Mary began her ministry on September 1, 2012 having most recently served in the Diocese of Connecticut as Interim Rector at Christ Church, Stratford and Rector, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Madison.
The Preacher for the service will be The Rev. Canon Thomas Furrer, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in the Tariffville section of Simsbury. In recent years, he has devoted much time and energy to raising support for mission projects in two African dioceses. Father Tom is President of Kateri Medical Services, a non-profit corporation which is also supported by Saint David’s, which funds and facilitates basic medical care to the rural poor in Nigeria. He has recently published a new book entitled: Living Word of the Living God: A Beginners Guide To Reading and Understanding the Bible.
