Ledyard C.H.A.I.N. "Show the Love" Campaign

Dear Ledyard C.H.A.I.N. Supporter:

Ledyard C.H.A.I.N. began its fundraising efforts in the second half of 2013. We, along with Ledyard Animal Control, and the pet owners who benefitted from our support are extremely grateful. Volunteers and supporters contributed to the health and welfare of animals in our community in a variety of different ways. Through the generosity of your support, we:

  •  Received donations of food and supplies, from our Amazon Wish List, in excess of $2,600 in value.
  • Collected pet food and supplies during a Stuff-A-Pumpkin drive.
  • Coordinate efforts with Ledyard’s Social Services Department to assist families who need help caring for their pet.
  • Donated and delivered 24 gift baskets (for pets) to families during our First Annual Santa Run.
  • Covered the cost of emergency expenses, including surgery, for Captain, a pit bull mix, who was in dire need of help.
  • Participated in, I Am The Majority, a nationwide campaign to end the negative stereotype against pit bull dogs.
  • Added $400 to Autumn’s Fund, a collaborative effort between All Friends Animal Hospital and Ledyard Animal Control to provide medical care for animals received at the shelter.

We will always be grateful for your support of Ledyard C.H.A.I.N. However, we want to improve on our success and we humbly ask you to please continue supporting our efforts to help the animals in our community.

We are starting our benevolent efforts early in 2014 with a first annual, Show the Love Campaign. With your help, we will meet the following objectives:

  • Create a sponsorship program for pets received by Ledyard Animal Control that need to receive vaccinations and may need to be spayed/neutered.
  • Find a solution to better manage the large stray and feral cat population in our community.
  • Host educational seminars to educate and inform our residents on a variety of pet related topics.
  • Create a number of Lost Pet Squads to better coordinate our efforts in rescuing, retrieving, and reuniting lost pets with their owners.
  • Expand the number of families we help through our collaboration with Social Services and Meals on Wheels program.

Our success is meeting these goals is dependent on your help. So, we are asking you to Show the Love and donate. Share the love with your family, your friends, your co-workers or classmates. Please, ask them to support our efforts as well. Ledyard C.H.A.I.N. is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors. All donations are targeted for animal care and welfare. No amount of support is too small or insignificant. We graciously thank you for believing in our mission.
