Patch's Poll: When It Comes to Eggs, Do You Hold the Yolk?

Because a new study came out saying eating the yolk may be as harmful as smoking cigarettes.

Egg yolks are as bad as cigarettes?

That’s the latest report in the scientific journal, Atherosclerosis.

The publication released a study this warning that for those over 40, the number of egg yolks consumed per week accelerates the thickening of the artieries as severely as cigarette smoking does, the Hartford Courant reported.

The Courant has a full breakdown of the study here.

Hearing this, we wanted to find out from you: do you eat the yolks in your eggs or do you cut them out so to eat only the egg white? Take our poll and share your thoughts in the comments.

Another doctor wants to ban cheese because it's too fatty and salty. Let's all hold him down, and the anti-yolk people, and all the food police cops, down and shove Twinkies down their throats. Several years ago NOVA did a program on a study of centenarians. They found all were mildly physically active throughout their lives but not athletes, psychologically they adjusted to loss of loved ones, and had some committment to something outside themselves (church, clubs, hobbies, etc.). Not surprising. What IS surprising was what they had in common in their diets: HIGH IN FATS! So the next time somebody tells you of the latest dietary no-no--or the newest miracle food (pomegranite, anyone?) offer them a platter of bacon and eggs and home fries. Eat what you love, and if you live to be 100 or not, you'll die satisfied. Remember though: all things in moderation. INCLUDING MODERATION!

waste not, want not. my granny was so poor she used to break the egg open, plop out the goods, then use her finger to scoop out the remainder clinging to the shell. she lived until 92, her daughter lived until 102. they both had chickens and ate the eggs, plenty of them, all of it. which came first, the chicken or the egg or the doctor? lol, need more amusing data from these studies, and the 'researchers' need to find a real job.
