Police: Car hits parked car, then St. David's Church; minor injuries

A car struck a parked car in the lot on Route 214 Sunday and then hit the church itself, Ledyard Police reported today.

The Ledyard Police Department, the Gales Ferry Fire Company, and the Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad responded to find two passangers who were in the vehicle that struck the church reporting minor injury, police said in a press release.

Police said the impact with the building caused minor damage to the structure and no injury to anyone inside.

The vehicle, a 2000 Ford Ranger was driven by Eli Morton, DOB 11-19-92, of 29 Virginia Ave., Groton. The cause of this accident remains under investigation, police said.
