Groton Reservoir Fires Being Investigated

Fire marshal and police believe the fires were set intentionally.

Ledyard and Gales Ferry Fire Departments responded to a 911 call at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday reporting that smoke was observed in a wooded area off Sandy Hollow Road in Ledyard, according to Ledyard Police Lt. Michael Finkelstein in a press release.

Two fires were located and extinguished, according to the release.

Finkelstein said that the Ledyard Fire Marshal and Ledyard Police Department have determined that the two fires were intentionally set and continue to investigate the origin of the fires set on the Groton Reservoir property.
