Ledyard Arrests May 6 – May 17

The following arrest information was supplied by the Connecticut State Police Troop E and the Ledyard police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 

 

May 7

Winter Riffler, 17, of 1920 Center Groton Road, was cited for travelling too fast and failure to drive right after a single car collision on Route 117. The report says that Riffler was driving southbound and swerved into the northbound lane and the process of correcting the course of the vehicle caused it to swerve across the road whereupon it collided with a utility pole, and flipped over onto its roof. Riffler was transported to L&M Hospital for head injury and a laceration on his foot. The passenger, Kayla Avery, 23, of 1920 Center Groton Road, was transported to L&M for shoulder, neck and abdominal pain.

A car crashed into a mailbox in front of 6 East Drive in Gales Ferry. The car evaded the accident.

May 14

At 8:31 a.m. Jamie Kelley, 33, of 1742 Route 12 in Gales Ferry, struck Police Officer Dan Gagnon who was directing traffic on Spicer Hill Road. The report says Kelley was turning around after being told the road was closed when she struck the police officer directing traffic. Kelley was charged with reckless driving, unsafe movement from a stop, and failure to carry an insurance card.

May 15

At 1:16 a.m. police observed Corey N. LaPlace Jr., 22, of 13 Michael Lane in Ledyard, “travelling at a high rate of speed.” The officer stopped the LaPlace and charged him with speeding and driving while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was assessed a $500 non-surety bond and given a May 29 court date.

At 7:59 a.m. police responded to a one-car crash on Sandy Hollow Road. The report says that Annette P. Wehling, 63, of 55 Roath Street in Norwich, swerved to avoid a large animal in the road and consequently, crashed into a utility pole. Wehling was transported to Pequot Medical Center for chest pain.

May 16

At 3:30 a.m. police arrested Brittany D. Morrow, 22, of 139 Ives Street in Providence Rhode Island, driving and charged her with operating a vehicle while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and failure to drive right. Morrow was assessed a $500 cash bond and given a May 30 court date.
