Man Arrested After Head-On Crash; Uncasville Man Hit, Not Hurt

Norwich man arrested for DUI after police investigation.

A two-car car crash on Route 12 and Christy Hill Road yesterday afternoon resulted in no injuries but one man was arrested, according to a press release from the Ledyard Police Department. Ledyard Police Lt. Michael Finkelstein said that around 2:21 p.m., Joshua M. Olsen, 33, of 21 Sherman Street in Norwich was traveling south on Route 12 when his 1989 GMC crossed the center line and crashed, head-on, into a 2002 Dodge driven by Roger Kaufman, 69, of 10 Sachem Road in Uncasville. No one required emergency transportation to the hospital but after investigation, Olsen was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failure to drive right, and failure to maintain insurance.  Olsen was processed and released and given a Dec. 28 court date. The Ledyard Police Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Fire Department, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital Paramedic responded.
