Police Blotter: Car Theft Arrest

Investigation Continues into Recent Rash of Stolen Vehicles

At approximately 7:18 a.m. today Ledyard Police observed a vehicle parked at Saw Mill Park that had not been there a few minutes earlier. Due to a rash of motor vehicle thefts in the area over the past several weeks, the vehicle owner was contacted and it was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen.

Investigation by  Ledyard Police involved a canvass of area homes through which a physical description was obtained of an individual observed parking the vehicle and walking away. A track was conducted using a Ledyard Police K9, which led to a nearby residence.

As a result, Samuel H. Green, 35, of 7 Lee Brook Drive, Ledyard, was arrested and charged with Larceny in the Third Degree. He was released on a $2,500 bond with a court date of Feb. 7 in New London.
