Police Blotter: Dogs Attack Family's Livestock
Shewville Road Pitbulls Kill Two Goats, Several Chickens
On Saturday, Sept. 17, at 4:30 a.m., Ledyard police went with an animal control officer to a residence at 325 Shewville Road, where a dog had been reported loose. Animal Control Officer Kimlyn Marshall said two pitbulls were found loose on the property and were restrained.
At sunrise, she said, two goats and as many as 10 chickens on the property were discovered to have been killed by the dogs during the night.
Marshall said the residence was vacant at the time. She said the two pitbulls and four other dogs found in a kennel on the property have been impounded at the Animal Control Office. The owner was ticketed for allowing dogs to roam and creating a nuisance. “It’s a very sad situation,” she said.
