Police Charge Woman in Domestic Dispute After Laptop Thrown at TV
On Feb 22, at 8 p.m., Douglas McEwen, 32, of 19 Jay Street, New London, was charged with illegal use of a credit card. The the alleged infraction occurred in Ledyard. McEwen was released on a cash bond and ordered to appear in New London Superior Court on Feb. 23.
On Feb. 20, at 12:49 a.m., Ledyard Police were called to 34G Flintlock Road for a domestic disturbance and report of property damage. Police said resident Arlene Kopp, 22, became agitated at Nicholas Woodworth, of the same address. Police said Kopp punched Woodworth, then threw a laptop into the TV. Kopp was charged with Criminal Mischief and Breach of Peace. She was released on a $500 non-surety bond and ordered to appear in New London Superior Court on Feb. 22.
On Feb. 19, at 2:22 a.m., Ledyard Police stopped a vehicle traveling south on Route 12 at Inchcliffe Drive in Gales Ferry. Police said Marc W. Shirley, 25, or 17 Heather Glen Lane, Mystic, was doing 67 mph in a 40 mph zone. Police said he subsequently failed a field sobriety test. Shirley was charged with speeding and driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was released on a $500 non-surety bond and ordered to appear in New London Superior Court on March 7.
