Police Blotter: Groton Man Charged After Chase
Charged With DUI After Doing 94 MPH Down Route 12
On Aug. 17, at 1:50 a.m., Ledyard Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Route 12 near Long Cove Road. When they attempted to stop the car, the driver took off.
Police said Ramik L. Montgomery, 22, or 33 School St., Groton, was clocked at 94 mph. When he was signaled to pull over, Ramik darkened his lights, fled into Groton and pulled into a driveway. He then fled on foot.
Ramik was later apprehended by Groton Police. He was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, reckless driving, failure to obey and officer's signal and passing in a no-pass zone. His bond was set at $1,000 and he was ordered to appear in New London Superior Court on Aug. 31.
